Green Partnership Program |
Not only since the start of the climate are debate environmental protection and social responsibility in the focus of entrepreneurial action. At Fairmont Hotels & Resorts both issues go hand in hand. With the participation at global recycling and environmental protection programs the luxury hotel company is tracking its target since more than 15 years to keep the impact on the environment as low as possible. With the third edition of the renowned "Green Partnership Guide", which will also be published in German this year, the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts confirm their leading role in the field of environmental and social corporate governance. The "Green Partnership Guide" is a manual that explains in detail specific concepts for environmental key areas such as economizing water and energy, waste separation or the use of ecologically sensitive cleaning agents. Exemplary commitment also comes from Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten. Last year a "Green Committee" has been formed, which initiates and monitors the implementation of environmentally friendly measures. The initiatives range from the launch of energy saving lamps, waste separation, water saving measures, the use of ecologically sensitive cleaning agents up to the renewal of the refrigerator gaskets. The green revolution does not stop short of the dishes. Buzzwords like "products from biological and regional cultivation" are no lip service but find their implementation in the menus of the four restaurants under the supplement "Lifestyle Cuisine", where you may order dishes purchased and prepared according to the strict criteria of biological and regional cuisine. With the slogan "Enjoy, with a good conscience", only the coffee brand "Café Intencion" made by J.J. Darboven is offered at Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten since last December. This coffee is a FairTrade product. Only products from companies sticking to the rigorous guidelines of fair trade will obtain the FairTrade seal. Fair traded coffee comes from peasant families directly from the manufacturing country without middlemen. The association TransFair e.V. secures a minimum price for the harvest. More and more conference and event planners like to have included "ecologically sensitive" aspects into the offers for meetings or incentives. That is the reason why our marketing department develops specific "green program modules" together with a Hamburg event agency such as a trip around the Alster with the solar ship "Alster Sonne" or a city tour with the "City Cruisers". Healthy and fit is also the mission statement of the new marketing program "Fairmont Fit", which will be introduced in spring 2008 at the Vier Jahreszeiten. It is about a global cooperation with the brand Adidas. In the future, members of the Fairmont Presidents Club, our loyalty program, will have the opportunity to leave their sportswear at home and make use of their personal sports outfit during their stay at the hotel. Already with the check-in the guest finds sportswear and shoes in his room ready for the Alster run - provided that he has once deposited his dress size at the Fairmont Presidents Profile. www.fairmont.com.
